May 16, 2020 2:05 AMFor Monika’s family,
I would like to share my condolences with you all. Monika was indeed a very special person. We saw many sides of her personality and she kept us on our toes. Through all the love and care we could provide for her, it was always evident to us that family, was her pride and joy. She would so often say to us to be careful, get our rest and take care of ourselves. She “mothered” us as well. She had love for everyone! Some of my favorite times were when we would see her sense of humor making a joke or laughing out loud, she could be so quick and so witty.
There were also days that were difficult for her as she began to realize that she was not as able to do the things she loved. That was frustrating. Some days she would lapse in to speaking German to us and when we said “I can’t understand, I don’t speak German” she would say “of course you can, so stop being ridiculous!”
We at HVC grew to love Monika for every emotion she had, her days of confusion and frustration and everything in between. She was our family too. We all have shed our own tears in our own ways and we deeply regret that we were not able to physically support and share our love and hugs with all of you. Please know how often we think of you and your Mom. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to love and care for such an amazing woman. She taught us how to be humble and courageous.
With love and admiration to you all,
Walt Johansson

May 1, 2020 9:24 PMMonika was a beautiful graceful woman. She would come to my Greenhouse to buy flowers and vegetables and it was always so good to see her coming! To share a laugh and smile. She always had a sharp mind, and avid bridge player! Godspeed dear lady and much love and hugs to her family. I love them all like my own.
