Elaine (Lane) Joyce Brown, 75, passed away on the afternoon of August 20th at the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus in Damariscotta, ME after a period of declining health. Born in Augusta, ME on July 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Clyde “Buster” Brown and Thelma (Tobey) Brown and was a longtime resident and business owner in West Haven, CT.
Elaine was a very spiritual person and believed strongly in God. She loved animals and always had many dog rescues to take care of, her favorite being her beloved shih-tzus. She was known for her generosity and empathy. When someone needed a hand, Elaine was always there to help. She helped many people that came into her life as a role model and helped them get back on their feet. Elaine loved to work with her hands and was very capable at building things. She was a hard worker. Despite the many challenges in life, Elaine forged her way into successfully opening and running her own business. Bridges & Brown Enterprizes was a full-scale offset print and bindery shop. Her business regularly donated services to many charitable organizations.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Sheward Brown; and sisters, Carol Lee Mooney & Linda Doris Brown.
She is survived by two brothers, Ronald Alllen Brown of Hawaii, and James Clyde Brown of California; two sisters, Donna Russell Smith of Pennsylvania, and Gayle Killman of California; longtime friend, Julie Schlessel; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest next to her sister Carol Lee, at the family cemetery on the old family farm in Maine.
