Elaine Brown

July 8, 1946 ~ August 20, 2021 (age 75)

Elaine (Lane) Joyce Brown, 75, passed away on the afternoon of August 20th at the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus in Damariscotta, ME after a period of declining health.  Born in Augusta, ME on July 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Clyde “Buster” Brown and Thelma (Tobey) Brown and was a longtime resident and business owner in West Haven, CT.

Elaine was a very spiritual person and believed strongly in God. She loved animals and always had many dog rescues to take care of, her favorite being her beloved shih-tzus. She was known for her generosity and empathy. When someone needed a hand, Elaine was always there to help. She helped many people that came into her life as a role model and helped them get back on their feet. Elaine loved to work with her hands and was very capable at building things. She was a hard worker. Despite the many challenges in life, Elaine forged her way into successfully opening and running her own business. Bridges & Brown Enterprizes was a full-scale offset print and bindery shop. Her business regularly donated services to many charitable organizations.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Sheward Brown; and sisters, Carol Lee Mooney & Linda Doris Brown.

She is survived by two brothers, Ronald Alllen Brown of Hawaii, and James Clyde Brown of California; two sisters, Donna Russell Smith of Pennsylvania, and Gayle Killman of California; longtime friend, Julie Schlessel; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She will be laid to rest next to her sister Carol Lee, at the family cemetery on the old family farm in Maine.

Donations to honor her may be made to the New Haven Pride Center, 84 Orange Street, New Haven, CT 06511 or an animal rescue of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543.  Condolences, and messages for her family, may be expressed by visiting:
