Daniel C. Seiders IV left this world on May 8, 2024, at the Brentwood Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Yarmouth, Maine, after a long battle with Lewy Body with Dementia. He was born on September 21, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida at the naval base where his father was stationed. Danny was the third of five children born to Daniel C. Seiders III and Marilyn E. (Knight) Seiders.  After spending his first three years in Florida, the family moved back to Maine in 1966.

Danny attended South Bristol Elementary School from 1st through 8th grade, then attended Lincoln Academy for high school, graduating in the Class of 1981.  He enjoyed playing baseball, playing Risk, and lobstering.  He always dreamed of returning to Maine and lobstering; the sea always remained in his blood.

Prior to graduating from high school, Danny signed up with the U.S. Army through their delayed entry program.  He left for boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri just after his 18th birthday in September of 1981.  Once basic training was finished, he headed to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for further training. It was there that he met his future wife, Karen M. Stark from Wisconsin, who was in the U.S. Army Reserves. They came back to Maine to be married on May 21, 1983, and soon after headed to Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.  While there, they welcomed their first son, Daniel C. Seiders V.  From Alabama, the family headed to the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.  During their time there, they welcomed their second son, Patrick A. Seiders.  Once his tour in Hawaii was up, the family headed to Wisconsin and the next base nearby.  As luck would have it, that base was chosen to be closed, so instead of moving again so soon, Danny and his family remained in Kenosha, Wisconsin after taking a buyout from the service.  He remained as part of the Ready Reserve until finally being honorably discharged in January of 2024.

Danny and Karen lived, loved, and were happy to watch their two sons grow-up into young men surrounded by Karen’s family and their friends.  Danny lost the love of his life in 2016 when his wife, Karen, died of complications due to scleroderma. 

After getting out of the service, Danny worked at Cardinal Health in Illinois for more than 20 years before retiring in the summer of 2018 and moving back to Maine.  Shortly after moving back to Maine, Danny was given the diagnosis of Lewy Body with Dementia, a hereditary disease that his father had passed away from in 2006.  He was able to live at home with his sister and surrounded by extended family until January of 2022, which was when he was able to find a place to care for him at Brentwood.  The staff adored him, and his family is grateful for the care he received there right up to the last moments of his life.

Danny was predeceased by his wife, Karen in 2016; his mother, in March 2006; his father, in April 2006; his father-in-law, John Stark in 2009; his sister, Sonya’s fiancé Ryan Bradstreet in 2019; his brother-in-law, Albert W. Lindholm III in 2022; his paternal grandparents; and maternal grandmother. He was also predeceased by his paternal aunt, Judy (Seiders) Abbott; and his maternal uncles’ Harold (Buddy) Knight, Clyde (Brother) Knight, and Clayton (Sonny) Knight as well as their extended families.

Danny is survived by his son, Daniel C. Seiders V and his wife, Kara (Smith) and their children, Austin and Ashley; his son, Patrick A. Seiders and his son, Martin; his mother-in-law, Kathy (O’Leary) Stark; and his sister-in-law, Jennifer and her husband Michael Farrell and their four daughters, Alyssa, Rachel, Cayley, and Sara.  He is also survived by his siblings: his sister Maureen (Seiders) Lindholm and her son John M. Anderson and his son Landon, and her son Matthew C. Anderson and his girlfriend Marina Mayberry and his two children Nyla and Rhys; his sister Renee Seiders; his baby sister Sonya (Seiders) Hunt and her two children Betsy and Hayden; and his brother Conrad A, Seiders and his two sons Christopher and Adam. He also leaves his maternal aunts Pauline (Knight) Farrin and Louise (Knight) Lewis and their families; as well as his paternal aunts and uncles Francis Seiders, Guy Seiders, Nancy (Seiders) Caton, and Gail (Seiders) Furbish and their families.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10:00am – 12:00pm, at Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta.  A burial, with military honors, will follow at 1:00pm, at the Hopkins Cemetery in Jefferson for his family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #42 of Damariscotta, Maine for use in one of their programs (such as The Peace Gallery, Maine Vets in Need, or Operation Reboot) or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
