Austin Eugley Obituary

Austin Eugley, 21, passed away unexpectedly on September 19th 2019. He was born in Portland, Maine on April 4th 1998 to parents Christine Rapa and Tony Eugley.  He graduated from Lincoln Academy in 2016 and later attended Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Austin had a beautiful childhood and spent lots of time among family and friends. He was patient, devoted, and loving, and was always there for his family and sisters, whom he adored.

Austin grew up on the coast of Maine. His passion for the ocean and lobstering led to his career as a sternman on the FV Juggerknot out of South Bristol. Earlier this month, Austin went tuna fishing and caught his first tuna. He cherished spending time on the water and was always excited to share his experiences.

Austin was exceptionally talented in all his endeavors. His family always supported and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. From building forts with his sister as a child to mastering nearly every video game, Austin loved to have fun and try new things. He even picked up the skill of welding while at Lincoln, leading to one of his proudest creations, an iron eagle, which he gifted to his mother in 2016.

Austin is survived by parents, Christine Rapa and Tony Eugley; sisters, Ashley and Arianna; partner, Gabby Staples; grandparents, Michael and Gail Rapa and Beverly and Leonard Eugley; aunts and uncles, Angela and Jason Cyr, Jessica and Eric Messina, Michael Rapa and Jen Williams-Rapa, Wayne and Leslie Eugley, and Michael and Michelle Eugley; as well as his great aunts and uncles, and many cousins whom Austin loved dearly.

Austin is remembered by those who loved him as a kind, loving protector, who thought the world of his sisters - Ashley and Arianna.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, on the morning of Wednesday, September 25th at the West Bristol Cemetery in Walpole.  A gathering to further celebrate Austin’s life will be held at Tony’s house following the service.  In lieu of flowers, Austin's family requests donations be made in his memory to an organization close to his heart: Shriners Hospitals for Children – Springfield, sent to Anah Shriners, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, Maine 04614

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543.  Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
