Frederick R. York, 75 of Nobleboro, passed away on the afternoon of July 26th at the Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor.  Born in Damariscotta on March 25, 1944, he was a son of Frederick P. and Ruby (Osier) York.

Fred attended the Longfellow School in Damariscotta Mills, before attending Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.  At the age of 17, Fred joined the U.S. Army and served honorably for 11 years. He continued to serve his country until the age of 60 with the U.S. Army Reserves, and in 2015 was presented the Quilt of Valor by the Lincoln County Quilters.

Fred worked in carpentry and masonry throughout the area, and most recently drove trucks for Norman Hunt.   He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, scratching lottery tickets, collecting coins and tinkering with his train sets. He was a long-time member of the Wells-Hussey American Legion.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Kenneth and David; and a sister, Donna.  He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary York and Susan York Scofield; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
